Summertime Fun!

Last weekend we were so excited to have Papa, Nana Lori and Aunt Ashley visit us! Here are a few pictures from our weekend together.

Sleepy Head...

So...Kaileigh had yet another restless night on Friday night, along with Mommy and Daddy. It all started around 11:30 p.m. and ended around 4:30 a.m. Poor little thing, she seemed so tired yesterday. What happened...Rusty and I kept trying to put her back in her bed but she would get out and cry for Mommy and Daddy. After about one hour of straight crying and waking up Aubrie, I finally caved and slept in her room until the morning. I know they say put your foot down but I was exhausted, she was exhausted and everyone needed at least a few hours of sleep.

Yesterday I met my Mom in Williamsburg and dropped Kaileigh off until Tuesday. I was sad to see her go, she's my sweet little girl. My Mom said she would not put Kaileigh in her bed, my Mom's, but would try to keep putting her back in her own bed. Well, I talked with my Mom this morning and after Kaileigh woke up around 1:30 a.m. and cried for about thirty minutes, Grandma gave in, she ended up making a bed for her at the foot of her bed. I guess they all needed a little sleep as well. I'm planning on calling the Pediatrician on Monday to see if he has any suggestions. She is so pitiful looking when she doesn't get her sleep and clumsy, she even fell down the stairs on Friday night, bless her heart. She is having a great time with Grandma and Pappy though. Today she is helping Grandma usher at church and then either going to the bay or the aquarium. Tomorrow their going to the zoo. Thanks Mom! Little Rascal...

Oh my goodness...so, Aubrie is sleeping great, she is like clock work, she gets very cranky around 7:30 indicating to us "I'm hungry so please feed me and then put me down to sleep". Usually she's asleep by 8:00 p.m. and wakes up around 4 or 5 a.m. to eat and then she'll go back to bed. Kaileigh on the other hand, a.k.a. my Little Rascal, is fighting bedtime and now nap time. It all started last Thursday. She was terrified to go to sleep on Thursday, she would not even let me put her down, she clung to me for dear life. After about 30 minutes of hysterical crying Rusty and I felt bad for her and put her in bed with us, A BIG NO NO. Well, since then she'll get up about 3 times a night crying and wanting her back rubbed until she dozes off. The book Toddler Years says to let them cry it out. Well, with a soon to be 4 month old sleeping in the room next door, you don't want two screaming children so we give in a rub her back until she falls asleep. And this refusing to take naps...she needs them! She is unbearably cranky when she doesn't get one. I met a Mom at the pool yesterday with a 2 year old son and 5 1/2 month old and she's having the same problem. With him, she let him cry it out, for 5 1/2 HOURS, 4 NIGHTS IN A ROW, no thank you! Thank goodness for coffee ;0). This weekend Kaileigh is staying with my Mom, from Saturday to Tuesday, I'm going to miss her but will enjoy the sleep. Maybe when she comes back home she will have forgotten all about her sleeping spells. I can't blame her or get mad, I think she feels a little bit left out with Aubrie and she sees her nighttime visits as alone time with Mommy and Daddy. I guess this too shall pass...

Update...

Hi Everyone! I just wanted to give you all an update on Kaileigh and Aubrie.

Kaileigh is doing great with her roll as big sister, however, she has started to become a little bit jealous. The other day I was home with both girls and at the same time, they started crying. We were upstairs in my room so I sat both girls on my lap and told Kaileigh "Mama loves her little girls". Well Kaileigh's reply was "not Mama's girls" implying she wanted to be my only girl. She also gets a little bit jealous when Rusty is holding Aubrie, she tells him to "put her down". It breaks my heart to see her upset and to think she probably feels a bit left out. We try our best to include both of them and reassure her that we love her very much. Another new thing for Kaileigh is when we're out and she has to go potty she'll VERY LOUDLY say "someones in here". She said it twice this weekend, once at the grocery store and the other at the YMCA. I can't help but laugh. It's not like someone is trying to come into our stall but she keeps saying it over and over again. Well I finally got to the bottom of it and she said they say it at school, I guess with all of the little kids using the potty they often walk in on each other. Oh, and she'll also say "good job" when Mommy and Daddy go potty and sometimes when we're out she'll ask me, while we're in the stall, "you have to go poo-poo", which I reply "no" a lady never does that away from home "0).

Okay, Aubrie's turn. My little Aubrie, she is just the cutest baby in the world in my opinion. She has such a pleasant personality, always smiling and cooing. She has even started laughing. When I look at her and say "Yes" with a big smile, she will laugh at me. She also thought it was really funny when on Saturday morning I was doing toe touches and would swing my hair back, she was cracking up. She is not yet sleeping throughout the night which is fine. She will usually go down around 8:00 p.m. and wake up around 2:30 a.m. to feed and then wake up again around 6. On Saturday she woke up around 4:00 a.m. but went back to sleep until 8:30, both girls slept until then, it was great! She is just growing like a weed! She has her 4 month check-up on August 4th, I can't wait to see how much she weighs. I hope you all are doing well. I'll try to post some pictures tonight.
