Hi All,
Goodness, it has been so long since I've posted a blog. Since my last blog, we have been to Nags Head with the girls and the Hokie/UNC Chapel Hill game with the girls. First, I'll give you a little update on our beach trip. Over Labor Day Rusty and I took the girls to Nags Head for a week. We were so excited to finally have a family vacation. We stayed at my Dad's beach house in Collington and we were so fortunate to have Sue, Chris and Lauren join us. Kaileigh LOVED seeing her Mimi, Unc and LaLa, especially her LaLa. LaLa, or Lauren, is WONDERFUL with the girls, especially Kaileigh. Kaileigh just loves hanging out with her and whenever she's around, she's like "Mom who". Anyway, we couldn't have asked for more perfect weather, it was absolutely beautiful. We spent most of the days at the sound but did spend one day and evening at the beach. Both girls seemed to really have enjoyed themselves, Rusty and I did too.
Okay, so now for the Hokie game. Rusty's Dad flew into Raleigh last Friday to visit with everyone since he was unable to make it to the beach. The original plan was for Rusty and Kaileigh to go to the game while I stayed at Chris and Lauren's with Aubrie. Well...I haven't been to a Hokie game since last year and since it was a day game I figured Aubrie would be fine. Well, five minutes into the game Aubrie started crying. We were pretty high up in the stands and it was VERY noisy. Not only was she irritated by the noise, she was hungry as well. After about ten minutes of trying to give her the bottle I was frustrated. I decided I would just tell Rusty I would go back to the tail gate and wait until half-time for him and Kaileigh. I would have been fine going back to Chris and Lauren's by myself but I had no idea how to get back there and neither did Rusty. Well, when I told Rusty about my brilliant plan he flipped. He refused to give up, he had paid too much money for tickets to throw in the towel. So...I let him try to give Aubrie the bottle and no luck. I ended up nursing Aubrie in what I thought was a discreet location when in fact it was the exact location where all of the smokers tried to sneak in a cigarette. Utterly embarrassed, I would not let Rusty leave me alone by myself, nursing my child, with grown men and college boys walking around. So, Rusty stayed with me until his Dad called. John was with Kaileigh and she had told him she had to go pee-pee. John had to take Kaileigh to the potty, THE MENS POTTY, poor Pop. Okay, so back to the whole nursing thing. John brought Kaileigh back to where Rusty and I were and I still needed to nurse Aubrie on the other side. By this point I was ready to call it quits. We ended up asking an attendant if there was anywhere I could nurse Aubrie. She said she had just the place, the family bathroom. Well we got there and a Mom was inside nursing her child. At first I thought she was going to suggest I go in with her and nurse. Thank goodness she didn't. So, as I waited for the Mom to finish I enjoyed my super sized pretzel and diet coke. By the time I was done the first half was finished. Rusty and I alternated watching the game. I got to see the third quarter and Rusty got to see the exciting fourth quarter. All in all we had a wonderful time "0). Oh, and I tried to get Kaileigh to go pee-pee in the Porto Potty before we left, which she did, just on the floor and herself. So...Kaileigh ended up walking back to the car with her pants off and a jacket tied around her waist. It was definitely a different experience going with two children but still a lot of fun.
I hope you all are doing well. I'll post pictures from the beach and game tonight so check back.
Love,
Katherine
