Con't Aubrie's First Steps...

First Steps...

My sweet little Aubrie is starting to walk!!! For the past week or two Aubrie has taken a few steps but I wouldn't label it walking until now! Rusty and I were in the kitchen this morning and out of nowhere, Aubrie took about five steps. Later on this evening we were in the kitchen again and she walked for us once more. Rusty grabbed the camera and started filming. Please excuse my background voice, when he first started recording I was leaving a message for my Mom telling her about the excitement. Also, only the first thirty seconds or so is of Aubrie walking, I wasn't sure how to edit out the last minute which just has us recording in hopes of seeing it again. Enjoy and have a great week!!!

Family Fun!

Here are just some family fun pictures for you all to enjoy!
Kaileigh loves her Unc!

Aubrie can't get enough table food. She usually refuses her baby food whenever we try to give it to her. Yesterday morning I made blueberry pancakes which she seemed to love "0).

We had my brother and sister-in-law over Saturday night. We had a wonderful family dinner. I especially enjoyed all of the cuddle time I had with my absolutely adorable nephew Graham.

Kaileigh with Unc and LaLa's super cuddly puppy, Lucy.

Valentine's Day Fun!

So...fall is my favorite time of year. I love the college football games the holidays, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years! I must admit, I get a little sad January 2nd knowing that it will be at least 8 more months until all of the fun fall activities. With that being said, I couldn't wait to decorate for Valentine's Day. We ended up having a wonderful day! We had a great breakfast and for lunch with took the girls to Maymont for a picnic. We finished the day off with Rusty's homemade pizza and my homemade cake "0). I couldn't have asked for a better day with my family.

While everyone was sleeping, including Rusty, I decorated the kitchen. I wanted them all to wake up to a Valentine's Day surprise.

Rusty made us some delicious french toast!

Kaileigh with some of her Valentine's Day candy.

Aubrie's first Valentine's, doesn't she look surprised "0)?

Our picnic at Maymont.

Valentine's Day Fun Continued...

I went upstairs to get ready for dinner and left the cake decorating up to Kaileigh. I think she did a wonderful job "0).

Rusty's famous heart shaped pizza. It tasted as good as it looked.

Fun at Maymont!

Let's Count Our Blessings...

Okay, so I've been horrible about blogging and haven't kept my promise about updating every week, I'm so sorry. I couldn't be more grateful for my wonderful family but life is busy with two little ones and these days sleep takes precedence over blogging "0) . However, I did want to add something because I thought it was important. I'm at work and just saw a family of five. Our Nutritionist Assistant brought back two charts and said "who gets these two, whoever it is needs some Lysol". Well it ended up being my turn and as I called them back I couldn't help but take notice. The two little girls had chopped hair that must have been cut by their mother. Their clothes were filthy and so were their little faces. One little girl had soiled her clothes with urine and the Mom changed her only to change her in equally dirty clothes. The Mom was so excited because this weekend they were moving. Now this is a family of five, moving from a 1 bedroom house to a two bedroom house. The 1 bedroom apartment they were living in was infested with mold so they had to move into a motel because their youngest daughter has epilepsy which was only getting worse due to the mold. The Dad decided to join us for the visit and said it looked like it was going to rain. I said I hoped it held off during their move and he said it wouldn't be a problem, they only had about 4 or 5 things to move. I think to myself how lucky am I. My children are bathed, have clean clothes, food on the table every night. I don't overly worry about our finances but probably should. Rusty is constantly asking me to look for another job because a lot of times we end up paying more for daycare than I bring home. I just don't think he understands how much I get back in return. I know the news is depressing these days with everything going on, but if you can, be thankful for what you do have. I had a child ask her Mom the other day for a toothbrush and she said she had to wait until payday. I just bought Kaileigh a ten dollar movie yesterday because it was on sale without even thinking twice.

I promise to have an uplifting blog this weekend with lots of pictures...PROMISE...

Okay, so I have a funny story to tell. Yesterday in Powhatan we received a good amount of snow. Rusty put a little bug in Kaileigh's ear, before he left for work, that it would be a great idea if Mommy took you and Aubrie outside to build a snowman. I tried and tried and tried to avoid going outside( it was in the 30's!) but Kaileigh insisted. After bundling up the girls, I though to myself, great, what am I going to do with Aubrie. She can only crawl and she'll freeze if I let her crawl on the ground. So I came up with a brilliant idea. I grabbed an empty laundry basket and put her in it. This worked great until she started falling over "0). So between picking her up and putting her back in the basket, Kaileigh and I proceeded to make a snowman. You wouldn't believe it, as soon we put the arms on him, which were made out of sticks, who comes along but Journie and torn one of them off. So now we had a one armed snowman. Next, we needed a mouth for the snowman so Kaileigh went inside to find something. She came out with a square looking pretzel which when we put it on him, he reminded me of Hannibal Lecter. Than I thought it would be cute to put some candy hearts down his front in celebration of Valentines Day. Wouldn't you know, when I cleaned Journie off to come inside she had bits of candy hearts on her. So much for our adorable snowman. Next time I think we're going to have to put it in the laundry basket instead of Aubrie "0). I'll try to post pictures tonight after the girls go to bed "0).

It's been a long time...I haven't blogged since November 18th, YIKES! I can't believe it's been so long! Goes to show how busy we've been with the Holidays, Kaileigh's Birthday, etc. Yesterday Rusty and I got together with a group of friends and it made me realize just how much I've missed blogging and keeping up with everyone else's. Right now, it's the only way I can keep in touch with a lot of you. As much as I would love to see you all more often, times are so busy right now and before I know it, weeks and sometimes even months have passed. So, I am going to try to be better about updating so you all can keep up with my girls because they are forever changing. First let me tell you about my big girl Kaileigh.
Kaileigh, I swear, is an old soul in a 3 year old body. She is just the sweetest thing. She is always giving away hugs and kisses and has started calling Aubrie "my baby". She loves to help Mommy and Daddy cook, is starting to help out with chores like feeding the dog, setting the table and helping Mommy empty the dish washer. She has an imagination that goes on for miles. She loves nature and the outdoors and is always eager to please. I can't believe she is already three years old, how time flies. Kaileigh is also crazy about her Daddy. It's been hard because Aubrie is so demanding of my time, I often feel like Kaileigh is being left out. Rusty has been great though. When he gets home it's all about his little girl. The two of them are kindred souls and I thank God every night for my precious little family.
Aubrie, that girl has some fire in her. I love her with all my heart but she definitely has a different disposition than her big sissy. A lot of times it's either her way of the high way. Forget "if mamma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy", "if Aubrie ain't happy ain't nobody happy". There is no putting on a happy face with this little one, if she's upset she has no problem letting you know. If she doesn't want her pacie she'll throw it, same with her sippy cup and I bet you money she's either going to be a softball player or diskis thrower in the Olympics. I have a feeling Rusty and I have our work cut out for us with this little one. Although she has her moments and makes me think "was there a mix up at the hospital" she is still my little angel. My favorite time with her is when she falls asleep in my arms, usually before nap time and bedtime. Oh, and Aubrie is definitely a Mama's girl, don't mess around with that, if I am in sight and you try to hold her, forget about it, she'll cry until I take her from you.
My favorite time is watching the two of them play together, not only is it sweet, but it gives me a little break, don't tell them that though "0).
I hope everyone is doing well. Once the weather turns warmer I hope we can all get together for some outdoor fun!
Love Always,
Kat
